Northampton MA Realtor, real estate agent – Joanie Schwartz – Delap Real Estate
Joanie Schwartz
At twelve years old I had a fascination with Monopoly. I should have realized then that I would have a career in Real Estate. I am the daughter of a Psychologist and a Politician and always assumed a career in Social Services. I attended college in upstate New York and studied Sociology. I further went on for a Master's Degree in Social Work at Simmons College in Boston in 1984. Being from New York City, Boston was a smooth transition and I remained there for 25 years, always hoping that someday I would live in the country.
I always had an interest in houses. My brother and sister had little interest in helping my Dad around the house and I became his helper. My Grandfather was a house painter and I eventually started my own company, Interior Motives, during graduate school. I kept the company running even when I was a home care social worker. I bought my first renovation project when I was 25 years old and have continued to do a project a year. This has given me great insight and enthusiasm for helping my customers. I also have a depth of understanding of homes in general and contacts for meeting those home improvement goals.
I have been a Realtor for 22 years, first as a Vice President of a 110-person office in Brookline, MA, and now as a Realtor in the Valley for the past seven of those years. I love what I do and feel that that my job is a privilege to be such an integral part of a huge purchase in people's lives. I live in Conway on a 40-acre mountain top and love being in the country. I have a partner who is a professor and a nine year old son and four year old daughter. We enjoy sports, music and spending time with friends. This is an amazing area and I feel that we have found a little piece of heaven. I especially enjoy working with people who are relocating to this area.
